Abstract: Solar-Powered Rocking Desiccator for Uniform Crop Drying in Humid Environments This invention describes a solar-powered rocking desiccator with automated venting and an oscillating drying bed, designed for uniform, energy-efficient, and off-grid post-harvest drying of grains, spices, and perishable produce in humid climates. The system integrates solar thermal heating, a temperature-responsive venting mechanism, and a mechanically actuated rocking drying bed to optimize air circulation, heat distribution, and moisture removal efficiency. A black-coated solar thermal collector directs heated air into the drying chamber, while a self-regulating venting system prevents overheating. The oscillating drying bed, powered by a solar-driven or wind-driven offset cam mechanism, ensures continuous redistribution of drying materials, eliminating the need for manual stirring. The system operates entirely off-grid, reducing post-harvest losses, energy costs, and reliance on fuel-based drying methods. Its scalable, modular design makes it adaptable for smallholder farmers and large-scale agribusinesses, providing a sustainable, cost-effective drying solution in high-humidity environments.
