MUMBAI, India, Aug. 17 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202521086938 A) filed by Pandit Deendayal Energy University on September 12, 2025, for Solvent-Free Selective Oxidation Of Cyclohexane Using Molecular Oxygen Over Mesoporous Transition Metal Oxide Catalysts.

Inventors include Jaimin Pandya; Bhalala Paras Girirajbhai; and Dr. Ashish P. Unnarkat.

Abstract: The titled Invention relates to mesoporous catalysts Co3O4, CoFe2O4) and Fe2O3 for the selective oxidation of cyclohexane, which provides enhanced catalytic performance, including high cyclohexane conversion, improved K/A oil selectivity, and reduced by product formation. The catalysts are characterized by their mesoporous structure, which increases surface area and active site accessibility, thereby improving reaction efficiency. Under optimized conditions (temperature: 150 °C, pressure: 10 bar, stirring speed: 1000 RPM), the CoFe2O4 catalyst exhibits the highest cyclohexane conversion (16.14%) and K/A oil conversion (14.51%) with the highest selectivity (89.90%). The process is economically viable, offering low acid formation and high reusability, making it suitable for industrial applications in the production of K/A oil. The invention further provides a method for synthesizing these mesoporous catalysts, ensuring their stability and long-term effectiveness in selective oxidation reactions
