MUMBAI, India, July 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202617072498 A) filed by Interdigital Ce Patent Holdings, Sas on June 11, 2026, for Spatial Geometric Partitioning Mode With Block Vector Based Prediction.
Inventors include Chen, Ya; Naser, Karam; Radosavljevic, Milos; and Puri, Saurabh Number.
The application for the patent was published on July 10, 2026, under issue no. 28/2026.
Abstract: Methods, and instrumentalities are disclosed for using block vector based prediction in spatial geometric partitioning mode (SGPM). An example device may determine that SGPM is used for a first block and a first maximum number of block vector (BV)-based intra- prediction candidates for the first block. The device may generate a first SGPM candidate list for the first block based on the first maximum number of BV-based intra-prediction candidates and decode the first block based on the first SGPM candidate list. The device may determine that SGPM is used for a second block and a second maximum number of BV-based intra-prediction candidates, different from the first maximum number of BV-based intra-prediction candidates, for the second block. The device may generate a second SGPM candidate list for the second block based on the second maximum number of BV-based intra-prediction candidates and decode the second block based on the second SGPM candidate list.
