Abstract: Title Of the Invention: STABILIZED HIBISCUS SABDARIFFA-BASED BASE-RESPONSIVE COLOURIMETRIC SENSING MATERIAL AND METHOD OF PREPARATION THEREOF ABSTRACT The present invention discloses a stabilized Hibiscus sabdariffa-based base-responsive colourimetric sensing material and a method for preparation thereof. The sensing material comprises micronized Hibiscus sabdariffa calyx particles, rosmarinic acid, and a calcium salt immobilized on, coated upon, impregnated into, or incorporated within a carrier substrate. The material is prepared by controlled drying, milling, sieving, formation of an aqueous stabilized dispersion, substrate integration, and controlled drying. The sensing composition may be incorporated into porous paper, a coated particulate layer, or recycled cellulose pulp. Upon exposure to volatile amines, alkaline vapours, spoilage-associated basic compounds, or changes in environmental pH, the sensing material undergoes a visually perceptible colour change. The material may be configured as a strip, sheet, label, film, coated plate, sensor card, or packaging indicator and is suitable for food-freshness monitoring, environmental surveillance, industrial leakage indication, and instrument-free field testing.
