Abstract: A standalone intravenous infusion monitoring system (100) is disclosed. The system (100) comprises an IV drip chamber (102), an IR proximity sensor (104), a microcontroller unit (106), a threshold adjustment potentiometer (108), a push button acknowledgment module (110), an LCD display module (112), a flow classification and alert control logic module (114), an LED indicator module (116), and an active buzzer module (118). The IR proximity sensor (104) generates drop-detection signals corresponding to fluid drops passing through the IV drip chamber (102). The microcontroller unit (106) counts the detected drops within a predefined monitoring interval and compares the counted drops with an adjustable threshold value received from the potentiometer (108). Based on the comparison, the flow classification and alert control logic module (114) classifies an infusion flow condition and controls the LCD display module (112), LED indicator module (116), and active buzzer module (118). The system (100) operates independently of internet connectivity, cloud infrastructure, GSM communication, and external network resources.
