Abstract: This invention is a computer-implemented eye-tracking system and method that estimates a subject’s on-screen gaze position from a commodity monochrome camera lacking dedicated infra-red illumination or purpose-built eye-tracking optics, and applies the resulting gaze-coordinate stream to a standardized battery of oculomotor tasks for computer-assisted neuropsychiatric screening. A landmark-based calibration engine extracts a multi-dimensional feature vector from facial and ocular landmarks detected at each of a defined sequence of on-screen calibration targets, verifies each candidate sample against a subject-specific open-eye baseline before admitting it to the calibration mapping, and fits a per-session regression mapping to on-screen gaze coordinates. A tracking-quality verification stage computes a residual calibration-fidelity metric and gates progression to task administration, returning the subject to calibration where a defined threshold is not met. Only once this gate is passed does a task controller administer a standardized battery of oculomotor tasks — smooth pursuit, fixation stability (no-distractor, single-distractor, and multi-distractor), antisaccade, and free-viewing — while continuously excluding samples coincident with detected eye closure. A feature extraction engine computes a plurality of engineered oculomotor features, normalized and rendered, together with task-specific gaze visualizations, into a structured clinical report, with data persisted in a database architecture suited to longitudinal and multi-site deployment. The invention addresses the cost and portability barriers of dedicated infra-red eye- tracking hardware by combining landmark-based, blink-verified calibration, quality-gated task admission, and an integrated acquisition-to-report pipeline into a single deployable system.
