MUMBAI, India, Nov. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611110892 A) filed by Noida Institute Of Engineering And Technology Pharmacy Institute on September 16, 2026, for Stearic Acid-Based Nanoemulsion Formulation For Enhanced Therapeutic Delivery Of Talazoparib For Treatment Of Breast Cancer.

Inventors include Neha Sharma; and Nidhi Sharma.

The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a stearic acid-based nanoemulsion formulation comprising talazoparib, a potent PARP inhibitor, encapsulated within a lipid matrix of distearoyl phosphatidylcholine, stearic acid, and Tween-80, prepared by solvent injection followed by probe sonication, for enhanced breast cancer therapy. The formulation exhibits a mean particle size of approximately 118 nanometers, encapsulation efficiency exceeding 70 percent, and pH-responsive sustained drug release. Stearic acid serves dual functions as a stable hydrophobic carrier and a functional excipient with intrinsic antitumor activity. The nanoemulsion achieves 8.4-fold enhancement in cytotoxic potency through enhanced cellular uptake via CD36 fatty acid transporter-mediated endocytosis and modulation of DNA damage response pathways inducing synthetic BRCAness. In vivo evaluation demonstrates superior tumor growth inhibition of 58.55 percent with dose-sparing effects and excellent biosafety. The formulation is optionally lyophilized with trehalose cryoprotectant for enhanced shelf-life exceeding 180 days.
