MUMBAI, India, June 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202544118037 A) filed by Joseph Vgele AG on November 27, 2025, for Storing The Course Of A Paving Edge To Control A Lateral Extension Position Of A Paving Screed Of A Road Paver.
Inventor includes Philipp Stumpf.
The application for the patent was published on June 12, 2026, under issue no. 24/2026.
Abstract: Storing the course of a paving edge to control a lateral extension position of a paving screed of a road paver A road paver (1) with a laterally extendable paving screed (7) is operated. A paving run along a paving path which extends along a paving edge (37) is performed with the road paver (1). During the paving run, an edge sensor (47) attached to the road paver (1) detects the paving edge (37) at a position located ahead of a rear edge (41) of the paving screed (7) with respect to the paving direction (5). During the paving run, data is stored based on the detection of the paving edge (37), from which data the course of the paving edge (37) can be reconstructed during the paving run in a current paver-fixed coordinate system. During the paving run, a lateral extension position of the paving screed (7) is adjusted to a desired lateral distance (43) between the rear edge (41) of the paving screed (7) and the paving edge (37) on the basis of the stored data.
