MUMBAI, India, July 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611056747 A) filed by Sharda University on May 04, 2026, for Sunlight-Activated Wastewater Remediation Apparatus.

Inventors include Dr. Babita Tripathi; Dr. Mohit Sahni; Sanjay Tyagi; and Ashish Tyagi.

The application for the patent was published on July 17, 2026, under issue no. 29/2026.

Abstract: Disclosed is a sunlight-activated wastewater remediation apparatus comprising a treatment housing adapted to receive wastewater containing pollutant molecules and a catalyst support member disposed within the treatment housing to define a wastewater contact path. A zinc oxide heterostructure catalyst is retained by the catalyst support member and comprises a zinc oxide light-responsive region joined with a secondary charge-transfer region. A controlled heterointerface is disposed between the zinc oxide light- responsive region and the secondary charge-transfer region and provides a contact boundary for migration of photogenerated charge carriers. A sunlight exposure portion is arranged over the catalyst support member to direct sunlight toward the zinc oxide heterostructure catalyst. The wastewater contact path permits wastewater to contact the zinc oxide heterostructure catalyst during sunlight exposure for supporting reactive oxygen species formation adjacent to pollutant molecules.
