MUMBAI, India, July 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611063257 A) filed by Nims University Rajasthan, Jaipur on May 19, 2026, for Surface Coating Systems For Implantable Medical Devices And Method Thereof.
Inventor includes N Swetapadma Rout.
The application for the patent was published on July 17, 2026, under issue no. 29/2026.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a coating system (100) for an implantable medical device. The system comprises a primer layer (102) adapted to be bonded to a substrate surface (104) of the medical device and a polymeric matrix layer (106) disposed over the primer layer (102). The system further comprises a plurality of carrier particles (108) distributed within the polymeric matrix layer (106). Moreover, the polymeric matrix layer (106) comprises a cross-linked network including cleavable linkers responsive to biological conditions associated with an implantation environment, such that structural permeability of the matrix is modulated under said conditions. The invention may be used to deliver growth factors, biologically active substances to improve integration, reduce infection risk, and enhance healing outcomes.
