Abstract: A surgical instrument connector (100) includes a unitary body (102), a hinge portion (106) formed within the unitary body (102) and configured to flex, and a locking protrusion (108) extending from the hinge portion (106) for engaging a surgical instrument (302). The locking protrusion (108) is designed to elastically deform upon initial contact with the surgical instrument (302), progressively deflect during continued engagement, and automatically return to an undeflected position when aligned with a mating groove (304) of the surgical instrument (302). In the undeflected position, the locking protrusion (108) creates a mechanical lock with the mating groove (304), providing a secure connection between the surgical instrument connector (100) and the surgical instrument (302).
