MUMBAI, India, Aug. 10 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202631088764 A) filed by Brainware University on July 21, 2026, for Sustainable Bio-Nanoemulsion Hermetic Preservation Of Indigenous Aromatic Rice With Aroma Retention Technology.

Abstract: A sustainable preservation system for indigenous aromatic rice seed comprises a bio-nanoemulsion coating, a hermetic storage enclosure, a moisture-control assembly, an aroma-retention arrangement and a lot-specific traceability identifier. The coating includes Alginate and a plant essential oil dispersed as nanoscale droplets with a natural emulsifier, thereby providing controlled release of antimicrobial and insect-deterrent constituents around the seed surface. Coated seed is conditioned to moisture content and enclosed in an aluminium-laminate pouch or airtight container under vacuum, nitrogen or reduced-oxygen atmosphere. A desiccant and humidity indicator maintain storage moisture within a predetermined range while restricted oxygen and water-vapour ingress limit oxidation, lipid degradation and loss of 2- acetyl-1-pyrroline. A machine-readable identifier links each sealed lot with variety, geographical origin, GI status, producer, treatment, germination history and storage records. The system supports residue-minimised preservation of Gobindobhog, Tulaipanji and related aromatic rice seed while retaining viability, varietal integrity and aroma during extended storage periods.
