Abstract: ABSTRACT OF THE INVENTION "Sustainable Nano-Engineered Hybrid Jutton–Glass Fiber Composite Structures with Enhanced Fatigue Durability for Marine and Transportation Applications" The present invention discloses a nano-engineered hybrid jutton–glass fiber reinforced epoxy nanocomposite incorporating surface-modified graphene nanoplatelets (GNPs) and multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs), and a method of manufacture thereof by Vacuum Assisted Resin Transfer Moulding (VARTM). Equal- proportion GNPs and MWCNTs are functionalized with a polymeric surfactant (SPAN-80) in a volatile solvent (hexane), dispersed by ultrasonic sonication into an epoxy resin, and infused into bidirectional jutton and S-glass fabric preforms. The combined nanofiller content is maintained in a controlled low range of about 0.25 to 1.0 vol.%, and most preferably about 0.5 vol.%, providing simultaneous enhancement of tensile strength, flexural strength, hardness, impact strength and fatigue life. At the preferred 0.5 vol.% loading, tensile strength and hardness improve by more than 30% and about 25% respectively, flexural strength reaches approximately 285 MPa, and fatigue life is improved by about 60–66% as compared to baseline composites without nanofillers. The hybrid composite is suitable for primary structural components in marine, automotive, defence, railway and offshore applications, including hull panels, deck panels, bulkheads, crash boxes and bumper beams.
