Abstract: Title: Sustainable Sandwich Panel for Acoustic and Structural Applications The present invention is a green composite sandwich panel manufactured from Areca leaf sheath fibers and treated by immersion in sodium hydroxide NaOH to improve their strength, and for it to be sustainable. The sandwich panel has treated Areca leaf sheath fiber mats as a facing material, Kraft paper honeycomb as a core material, and the glue is Neem gum. The composite panels have benefits of strengthened tensile, absorption of sound which is no doubt better, and the absorption of moisture that is lesser than the conventional ones and can virtually be used for the three applications cited above. The procedure for fabricating involves preparing fiber mats, applying NaOH treatment, binding with Neem gum, and curing under uniform pressure. The panels are tested in the following mechanical strength, sound absorption and moisture resistance, which allows us to use it in construction, automotive, and other industrial applications.
