Abstract: The present invention relates to the development of sustainable thermoplastic composite materials suitable for interior design and additive manufacturing applications. The composite comprises a polymer matrix selected from polylactic acid (PLA) and acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS), reinforced with coconut peat fiber powder as a natural filler. The composite filament is produced using a single-screw extrusion process and is compatible with fused deposition modeling (FDM) 3D printing techniques for the fabrication of structural and decorative components. The developed material exhibits improved mechanical strength and thermal stability compared to unreinforced polymers, while maintaining consistent chemical characteristics as confirmed by spectroscopic analysis. The incorporation of coconut peat enhances material sustainability by utilizing renewable resources and reducing reliance on petroleum- based materials. The invention further addresses the need for eco-friendly alternatives in interior design by providing a cost-effective, recyclable, and biodegradable composite solution. This technology enables the production of durable components with reduced environmental impact, thereby supporting sustainable manufacturing and design practices.
