Abstract: ABSTRACT TITLE: SYNTHESIS AND CHARACTERIZATION OF CADMIUM SULFIDE (CdS) NANOMATERIAL FOR ADVANCED MICROBIOLOGICAL APPLICATIONS The present invention discloses a method for the synthesis and characterization of cadmium sulfide (CdS) nanomaterials for advanced microbiological applications. CdS nanomaterials are synthesized using a cost-effective chemical precipitation method involving cadmium nitrate tetrahydrate and sodium sulfide as precursors, with diethylene glycol as a particle size protecting agent. The reaction is carried out at 80 degrees Celsius under constant stirring for 3 hours. The synthesized nanomaterials are characterized using X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and UV-Visible spectroscopy, confirming spherical phase structure, nanocrystalline nature, and quantum confinement effects. The CdS nanomaterials demonstrate potent antimicrobial activity against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, photocatalytic sterilization capability under visible light, and fluorescent properties suitable for biosensing and bioimaging. The invention provides multifunctional nanomaterials with wide-ranging applications in antimicrobial treatment, environmental remediation, and nanobiotechnology. [Figure 1]
