Abstract: The present invention relates to an edge AI-based waste segregation system, and its novelty lies in its ability to integrate computer vision and local processing, along with actuation-based routing, to effectively segregate waste materials. This device captures images of the waste materials, and through local processing and AI, the images are processed and sent to a control module, which, through actuation, effectively routes the waste materials to their respective places. This device operates independently, in real time, and does not require human intervention or cloud-based processing. This device is modular and can be extended and modified to suit various applications, and its uses can be extended to smart cities, homes, and industries, among many other uses. Thus, this device can improve and enhance the efficacy and sustainability of waste segregation processes.
