Abstract: Smartphone imaging in dentistry for an AI diagnostic system and method The system comprises a portable device, which is an intraoral imager with high resolution; a cloud processing unit that employs deep learning (DL) models that are trained on dental problems; and the diagnostic interface for both patients and dentists. Using CNN technology, the AI engine is able to analyze images and detect cavities, gingivitis, periodontal disease and other oral health issues. The tool delivers preliminary diagnostic probability scores, treatment suggestions and visual highlighting of areas that may need further specialist review through local image data processing or secure cloud upload. The present invention makes dental screening more accessible; avoids the loss of time in obtaining diagnosis and properly fits into the EHR, for providing remote monitoring and tele-dentistry.
