Abstract: The present invention provides a system and a method for assisting entry and exit of a user from a vehicle. The system (100) comprises a sensor assembly (104) configured to determine a height of the user during entry of the user into the vehicle, and an actuation assembly (108) configured to selectively control movement of the plurality of running boards in a direction along an entry and exit direction for the door, between a retracted position and an extended position, based on the determined height of the user to assist the user to safely enter or exit the vehicle.
