Abstract: ABSTRACT System and Method for Automated Construction-Quality Assessment Using Multimodal Sensors The invention disclosed herein relates to a system and method for automated construction quality assessment through multimodal sensors. The system captures visual, thermal, three-dimensional, LiDAR, acoustic, ultrasonic, environmental, and structural measurements associated with construction elements and registers the measurements in a common three-dimensional and temporal reference frame. The processor estimates sensor reliability, extracts quality-related features, constructs a multimodal defect-evidence representation and assesses cross-modal physical consistency and temporal persistence of the detected anomalies. An uncertainty estimation module assesses the reliability of the assessment and an active re-inspection module selectively controls an additional sensing modality when the uncertainty surpasses a verification threshold. A fusion module constrained by physics correlates the collected measurements to detect persistent construction defects from transient sensing or environmental anomalies. A construction quality state reconstruction module generates and continuously updates a sensor-verified quality state for individual construction elements, which improves defect localisation, verification accuracy, detection of developing defects and use of sensing resources.
