Abstract: The present invention relates to a portable autonomous weather intelligence system and a corresponding computer-implemented method for receiving, processing, georeferencing, and analysing meteorological satellite transmissions without dependence upon cellular networks, internet connectivity, cloud infrastructure, or subscription-based communication services. The system comprises a rugged handheld enclosure housing a software-defined radio reception subsystem, a multi-band antenna subsystem, an embedded computing subsystem, a positioning subsystem, a display subsystem, a memory subsystem, and a rechargeable power subsystem. The embedded computing subsystem autonomously predicts satellite visibility windows, initiates radio-frequency signal acquisition prior to acquisition of signal, receives and decodes meteorological satellite transmissions into weather imagery, georeferences the decoded imagery using satellite ephemeris and scan geometry, overlays the georeferenced imagery onto locally stored offline geospatial data, determines weather hazards relative to the geographical location of the user, and generates one or more multimodal alerts including visual, haptic, and optionally audible notifications. The invention provides a self-contained, battery-powered weather intelligence platform capable of delivering real-time location-aware weather information in remote environments without reliance on external communication infrastructure, thereby improving operational safety for outdoor recreation, disaster response, defence operations, scientific expeditions, environmental monitoring, forestry, maritime activities, and other field applications.
