MUMBAI, India, Nov. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541102660 A) filed by Bnprs Private Limited on October 24, 2025, for System And Method For Biometric Authentication At The Core Of Payment Processing.

Inventor includes Pattabhi Ramaiah Nalla.

The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a biometric-integrated payment processing system 200 for authenticating a user during a payment transaction. The system 200 includes an acceptance terminal 220 configured to capture a live biometric sample, derive biometric information therefrom, and generate an authorization request including the derived biometric information. An issuer authorization host 230, including a biometric authentication module 234 and a payment processing engine 232, receives the authorization request and obtains a biometric reference associated with the user under issuer control. The biometric authentication module 234 performs a one-to-one biometric comparison between the received biometric information and the obtained biometric reference within an issuer-controlled processing environment, independently of any terminal-generated biometric verification result or third-party identity assertion. The biometric reference may be obtained from an issuer- controlled biometric reference repository 236 or a cryptographically protected biometric credential. The biometric verification result is used for determining a transaction authorization decision.
