MUMBAI, India, Nov. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641125333 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology on October 21, 2026, for System And Method For Cross-Spectral Thermal Consistency Verification Of Interactions Depicted In Optical Video.

Inventors include Veeramani S; Shivam Singh; and Om Shinde.

The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.

Abstract: The present invention discloses a system and method for verifying an interaction depicted in an optical video (102) against an independent radiometric long-wave infrared record (104) of the same scene. The streams are registered and synchronised (106). The interaction region, interval and material are identified (108), and a transient heat-transfer model predicts the temperature of the region with a contact heat source (H1) and without it (H0) (110). A thermal state memory (112) keeps the post-contact thermal response available. A reliability of the thermal evidenceis determined from cameranoise, registration error and synchronisation jitter, independently of the comparison (116). An evidence ratio, being the reliability times the integrated log-likelihood ratio of the observations under H1 and H0, is compared with two thresholds to return a corroborated, inconsistent or indeterminate outcome (118).
