Abstract: A system (100) and method (200) for detecting deceased individuals within a collapsed structure during a search and rescue operation are disclosed. The system (100) comprises a plurality of autonomous search units (102) having spectral sensing units (102A) to emit multi-wavelength scanning signals into debris and receive reflected spectral data corresponding to decomposition-related biochemical markers. A data processing unit (104) processes the reflected spectral data by filtering environmental noise and extracting spectral signatures associated with the biochemical markers. A decision unit (106) compares the extracted spectral signatures with a biochemical decomposition database to identify a probability of presence of human remains, distinguish human remains from non-human organic matter, and generate search- priority information. A visualization unit (108) generates a depth-aware three-dimensional holographic representation indicating locations of human remains, structural voids, and structural instability zones. The holographic representation is rendered through an augmented reality interface comprising a wearable augmented reality headset to assist rescue personnel during search and rescue operations.
