MUMBAI, India, July 31 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411098384 A) filed by Mercedes-Benz Group AG on December 12, 2024, for System And Method For Detecting Obstacles For A Vehicle Under Diverse Ambient Lighting Scenarios.
Inventors include Jayanth Ramesh; Laxmi Kant Sahoo; Prasanna Haladipur Madhukar; and Parthiv Shah.
The application for the patent was published on July 24, 2026, under issue no. 30/2026.
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to system (102) and method for detecting obstacles for vehicle (100) under diverse ambient lighting scenarios. System (102) comprises controller (104) coupled to event-based image capturing unit (108) and RGB image capturing unit (106). Controller (104) receives localization input data from map- based localization unit (302) to identify diverse ambient lighting scenarios comprising high and low-light scenario. Controller (104) automatically activates the at least one event-based image capturing unit (108) on encountering the low-light condition and one or more RGB feature inputs. Controller (104) dynamically process the one or more RGB feature inputs by dynamic accumulator (310) when vehicle (100) moves under diverse ambient lighting scenarios to detect at least one of noise and the spikes. Controller (104) extracts one or more fusion features by spike neural network (312), and interprets one or more fusion features for detecting obstacles for vehicle (100) under diverse ambient lighting scenarios.
