Abstract: SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR DYNAMIC LOSS ESTIMATION FOR ELECTRICAL DISTRIBUTION NETWORKS ABSTRACT A system (100) for dynamic loss estimation for electrical distribution networks is disclosed. The system (100) comprising a modelling unit (102) to model feeders, and sub-feeders as corresponding load buses, and a grid supply as an infinite bus and a measurement unit (104) to obtain synchronized measurements of electrical parameters across the feeders and the sub-feeders. The system (100) is configured to map the feeders to a common reference point corresponding to a point of common coupling (PCC); determine reactive power requirements for each feeder and sub-feeder; compute a reactive power allocation (Qi) along corresponding active power (Pi) paths subject to feeder-level constraints; estimate systemic losses and demand reduction; and perform coordinated control of reactive power injection at levels of the feeders and the sub-feeder. The system (100) achieves improvement in power factor beyond the infinite bus through localized reactive power allocation, thereby reducing systemic losses.
