MUMBAI, India, Nov. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641125539 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology, Chennai on October 21, 2026, for System And Method For Electrical Hazard Risk Assessment In Water Accumulation.
Inventors include Kiran Kumar M; Reena Roy R; B Aswathi; and Vidhyadharan B.
The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.
Abstract: An electrical hazard risk assessment system (100) for assessing electrical hazards associated with water accumulation may include a sensing unit (102) to acquire a plurality of electrical and environmental parameters associated with the water accumulation and a controller (104) communicatively coupled to the sensing unit (102). The controller (104) may receive, filter, process, and fuse the acquired parameters to estimate a potential electrical current that may pass through a human body exposed to the water accumulation using an electrocution risk assessment model. Based on the estimated potential electrical current and the fused parameters, the controller (104) may determine an electrical hazard risk index (EHRI) representative of the severity of an electrocution risk, classify the EHRI into one of a plurality of hazard levels, and generate corresponding hazard notifications for presentation through one or more user notification interfaces to facilitate timely electrical safety assessment and informed user response.
