MUMBAI, India, June 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411093896 A) filed by Agnext Technologies Private Limited on November 30, 2024, for System And Method For Estimation Of Size, Shape, And Color Of Horticulture Produce.

Inventors include Subrat Kumar Panda; Shashi Prakash; and Kinshuk Attri.

The application for the patent was published on June 12, 2026, under issue no. 24/2026.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a system and method for estimating the size, shape, and color of fruits, vegetables, and other horticultural produce. The system comprises an imaging module configured to capture an image of the produce positioned within an imaging frame containing four calibration strips of predetermined physical dimensions, and a processing unit configured to perform image-processing operations on sensor-captured pixel data. The processing unit segments the calibration strips using HSV-based color separation, computes pixel dimensions, and determines a scale factor. A threshold image is generated through grayscale conversion, binary thresholding, and median filtering, followed by extraction of a primary contour and computation of a convex hull. A major axis is determined, and a rotation angle is computed. A bounding rectangle defines the minor axis, enabling real-world dimensional estimation. Color distribution is obtained using HSV masks normalized to the primary contour area. FIG. 1
