MUMBAI, India, July 30 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641044537 A) filed by Indian Institute Of Technology Madras Iit Madras on April 07, 2026, for System And Method For Generating And Managing Building Information Models Using Natural Language Processing.

Inventors include Aritra Pal; and Patchikolla Preetham Sai.

The application for the patent was published on July 24, 2026, under issue no. 30/2026.

Abstract: ABSTRACT SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR GENERATING AND MANAGING BUILDING INFORMATION MODELS USING NATURAL LANGUAGE PROCESSING A system (400) for enabling natural language interaction with a modeling environment is disclosed. The system comprises a processing unit (402), a memory (404), and an interface (406). A multimodal user interface (410) receives speech or text commands from a user. An extension framework integration engine (412) embeds the system within the modeling environment. A natural language processing engine (414) interprets user commands, while a hybrid command processing layer (416) selectively applies rule based parsing or semantic analysis. A parameter extraction and organization engine (418) structures modeling parameters, and a unit normalization engine (420) converts values into project compatible formats. A validation engine (422) checks completeness, logical consistency, and project compatibility, generating guided prompts for missing inputs. An execution engine (424) transmits validated commands to an application programming interface (426) for transaction controlled creation or modification of elements. The system reduces reliance on complex graphical interfaces, improving accessibility, efficiency, and reliability of modeling operations. (Fig. 1)
