MUMBAI, India, July 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202631085010 A) filed by Brainware University on July 10, 2026, for System And Method For Hardware-Rooted Mitigation Of Volumetric Botnet Traffic In Iot Modules.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a hardware-rooted mitigation system (100) for an edge Internet of Things device (102). The system (100) includes a communication-module power path (110) supplying an IoT communication module (106), a current-sensing unit (112), an analog current-envelope extraction unit (114), a hardware decision unit (116), and a power-gating unit (118). The current- sensing unit (112) senses current consumed by the IoT communication module (106), and the analog current-envelope extraction unit (114) derives current-envelope characteristics. The hardware decision unit (116) evaluates the characteristics against an abnormal- transmission condition and controls the power-gating unit (118) to interrupt power to the IoT communication module (106) while maintaining power to a host processor (104). A recovery timing unit (120) may restore power after a cool-down interval, and a host notification interface (122) may notify the host processor (104).
