MUMBAI, India, Nov. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641124262 A) filed by Pes University on October 16, 2026, for System And Method For Identifying Reachable Vulnerable Endpoints In Third-Party Software Libraries.
Inventors include Banginwar, Rajesh; Kinagi, Abhishek Hanamanth; Ramesh, Anirudh; K S, Sanjith; and Honnavalli, Prasad.
The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a deterministic system (100) and method (200) for identifying reachable vulnerable endpoints in third-party software libraries. A CVE identifier input interface (102) receives a CVE identifier. A multi-source advisory aggregator unit (104) obtains and consolidates advisory information and patch candidates. A commit discovery unit (106) resolves fix commits through multi-stage discovery. A per-commit difference and function extraction unit (108) retrieves patch differences, reconstructs relevant source files without cloning a repository and identifies affected functions. A reverse call graph engine (110) determines caller relationships and identifies externally reachable entry points. A report generation unit (112) generates a structured report with provenance information. The ordered processing stages deterministically map the CVE identifier to corresponding fix commits, affected functions and reachable entry points for an unchanged source state and processing configuration, thereby providing reproducible and traceable vulnerability-reachability analysis.
