Abstract: The present invention discloses a system and method for intelligent irrigation management that optimizes water usage by integrating real-time multi-depth soil moisture sensing with short-term weather prediction. A plurality of soil sensing units deployed across an agricultural field measure soil moisture and optionally soil temperature, pH and electrical conductivity. Sensor interface modules perform signal conditioning, calibration and preprocessing and transmit data via LoRa, ZigBee, Wi-Fi, NB-IoT, cellular or wired networks to a central processing unit implemented as an edge controller, gateway or cloud platform. A weather data acquisition module obtains predicted rainfall and related meteorological parameters. A data fusion and analytics engine integrates soil and weather data and applies crop-specific models and soil hydraulic characteristics to estimate soil water deficit and forecast crop water demand. An irrigation decision and control module actuates zone-wise valves and pumps to execute an optimized irrigation schedule. A feedback and learning module compares post-irrigation moisture to target ranges to refine decisions over time, while a dashboard/mobile interface provides monitoring, alerts and manual override.
