Abstract: ABSTRACT System and Method for Intelligent Water-Leakage Detection and Flow Regulation The present disclosure relates to a system and method of intelligent water-leakage detection and flow regulation in a hydraulic distribution network. The system includes a plurality of distributed hydraulic sensing units, a plurality of flow regulation devices configured to be controllable, and a controller configured to receive synchronised flow, pressure, differential pressure, acoustic, vibration, valve-position and pump-operation parameters. The controller generates dynamic hydraulic fingerprints of normal operating behaviour, and detects deviations and applies a bounded hydraulic perturbation in a selective manner to get a corresponding transient hydraulic response. The transient response is analysed to verify and characterise leakage, to distinguish it from normal consumption, sensor errors and actuator faults, and to determine a probable leakage zone. The identified zone is gradually controlled by the system while considering the pressure-gradient and water-hammer safety constraints. The residual flow and pressure after intervention are assessed to verify the leak mitigation, identify the ongoing leakage and adaptively update the hydraulic fingerprints, which enables the autonomous, accurate and pressure-safe water-leakage detection and flow regulation.
