MUMBAI, India, Aug. 10 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641091878 A) filed by Mohan Babu University on July 29, 2026, for System And Method For Manufacturing Sustainable Utility Blocks Using Plastic Waste And Treated Wastewater.
Inventors include Dr. G K Arun Vivek; Mr. B. Vamsi; Mr. Manoj Kumar Yadav; Mr. K. Puneeth; Mr. B. Kumar Naik; and Mr. K. Yaswanth Kumar.
The application for the patent was published on July 31, 2026, under issue no. 31/2026.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a system (100) and method (200) for manufacturing sustainable utility blocks using plastic waste and treated wastewater. The system comprises a material storage unit (102), a plastic processing unit (104), a wastewater treatment verification unit (106), a surface-conditioning unit (108), a batching and mixing unit (110), a moulding unit (112), a compaction unit (114), a curing unit (116), and a testing unit (118). High-density polyethylene plastic waste is processed into particles having dimensions ranging from 2 mm to 10 mm and is incorporated as a partial replacement for coarse aggregate in proportions ranging from 3% to 15%. Treated wastewater replaces mixing water in proportions ranging from 5% to 25%. The prepared concrete mixture is moulded, compacted, cured, and subjected to compressive-strength and water-absorption testing. The invention improves waste utilization, reduces freshwater consumption, enhances durability, and provides utility blocks suitable for sustainable construction applications.
