MUMBAI, India, Oct. 12 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641118804 A) filed by Thiagarajar College Of Engineering on October 05, 2026, for System And Method For Multimodal Detection Of Driver Emotional Risk And Graded In-Vehicle.
Inventors include Sivadharshan A G; Rashika Fathima S; Saranya V; Karthikeyan S; and Sathya Bama B.
The application for the patent was published on October 09, 2026, under issue no. 41/2026.
Abstract: A system (100) and method for multimodal detection of driver emotional risk and graded in-vehicle intervention is disclosed. A sensor acquisition interface (102) receives physiological signals of a driver, a vehicle speed signal and an in-cabin audio signal. A baseline profiling engine (120) maintains per-driver baselines and personal thresholds. A music arousal index computation engine (122) derives a genre-independent arousal score from tempo, beat regularity, spectral centroid and energy of cabin audio. An emotion classification module (126) classifies driver emotion, and a trimodal risk correlation module (128) triggers intervention only when the emotional arousal delta, speed deviation and music arousal index simultaneously exceed the personal thresholds, thereby reducing false alerts. A trajectory prediction module (130) enables pre-emptive action. A graded intervention module (132) issues a visual alert, then a suggestion prompt, and finally substitutes calming audio automatically, while an adaptive feedback engine (146) retunes thresholds after each session.
