MUMBAI, India, June 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641046990 A) filed by Manipal Academy Of Higher Education on April 13, 2026, for System And Method For Performing Contactless Anthropometric Measurement And Posture Analysis Of A Subject.
Inventors include Koushik Sau; Tusar Kanti Mishra; Ananya Gupta; Laavanya Gupta; Jiya Thakker; Zayba Sajid; Harin Mohammed Manzoor; and Priyanka Hemant Lodha.
The application for the patent was published on June 12, 2026, under issue no. 24/2026.
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a system (100) includes an optical sensing unit (102) configured to capture image data of the subject, a calibration reference module (106) disposed within a field of view of the optical sensing unit (102) for providing a known dimensional reference, and a mounting and alignment assembly (118) configured to position the optical sensing unit (102) relative to the subject. A processing unit (104), operatively coupled to the optical sensing unit (102), processes the captured image data by performing preprocessing operations, detecting anatomical keypoints, and computing a scaling factor using the calibration reference module (106). The processing unit (104) further segments body regions, computes anthropometric parameters including height and limb proportions, estimates body weight, and evaluates posture alignment. The system generates real-time visual outputs including skeletal overlays, measurement results, and posture feedback, without requiring physical contact or specialized depth-sensing hardware.
