Abstract: The present disclosure provides a method (400) and a system (102) for preventing false braking by vehicles. The system (102) receives a vehicle state payload on occurrence of a braking event, from one or more vehicles (104), clusters each braking event into one or more hotspots based on geolocation data in the vehicle state payload. The hotspots indicate locations likely to trigger false braking. The system (102) classifies each of the hotspots as a false braking hotspot, indicative of either a ghost target hotspot or a system boundary hotspot, based on a comparison between one or more operational scores with a corresponding threshold according to a heuristic ruleset. The operational scores are determined from signals in the vehicle state payload. The system (102) then desensitizes the hotspots to prevent false braking based on the classification. The desensitization enables the vehicles (104) to navigate through the hotspots without false braking events.
