Abstract: The present invention relates to a system and method for real-time monitoring of plant nutrient uptake using biodegradable root-zone sensors. An Agricultural Soil Intelligence Grid (100) comprises a distributed biodegradable sensor network (102) including micro-sensor units (140) embedded within crop root zones. Each micro- sensor unit incorporates an ion-selective electrode assembly (119), a microfluidic sampling chamber (121), and a communication interface (125) for detecting nutrient- related ionic activity and transmitting sensing data. A field gateway unit (104) forwards the data to a cloud analytics platform (105) having a nutrient intelligence engine (106) configured to determine nutrient uptake efficiency. An adaptive fertigation controller (107) regulates fertilizer dispensing infrastructure (108) based on computed nutrient demand, thereby improving nutrient utilization efficiency, reducing fertilizer wastage, and supporting sustainable precision agriculture.
