Abstract: ABSTRACT System and Method for Root-Zone Response-Calibrated Irrigation Management The present invention relates to an irrigation system employing artificial intelligence-assisted root-zone responsive calibration for the management of irrigation of an agricultural crop zone. The system comprises an upper and lower root-zone capacitive soil moisture sensor, temperature and humidity sensor, weather forecast interface, microcontroller, water pump, solenoid valve, relay driver, flow meter, and cloud-based artificial intelligence prediction engine. The prediction engine takes in soil moisture information, weather forecast data, environmental data, and volume of water delivered data to output a pulse irrigation command consisting of pump on-duration, valve on duration, target volume of water to be delivered, and moisture stabilization duration. After each irrigation pulse, the moisture response of the upper and lower root zones after the irrigation is compared with the actual water delivered volume to compute the root zone response index. From the index, the system adjusts future irrigation pulses to avoid under watering, surface saturation, deep percolation, over-irrigation, and water wastage. Fig. 3
