Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a system (100) and method (400) for runtime monitoring and control of autonomous artificial intelligence (AI) agents. The system (100) may include an agent request action capturing module (106) to obtain agent request actions prior to execution, and an interception module (108) to intercept the obtained agent request actions at an in-process or network layer to enforce secure handling. A control and monitoring module (116) evaluates the intercepted agent request actions against predetermined rules and controls execution of the autonomous AI agents based on the evaluation. The control and monitoring module may include a loop detector module (118) for repetitive pattern detection, a policy engine (120) for deny/allow list and rate limiting, an enforcement controller (122) operable in kill mode (210) or alert mode (212), and a cost tracker (124) for enforcing configurable ceilings.
