Abstract: ABSTRACT SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR SECURITY-MAINTAINED VENTILATION USING RADAR CHILD DETECTION The present invention discloses a System and Method for Security-Maintained Ventilation Using Radar Child Detection, designed to mitigate pediatric vehicular heatstroke by integrating millimeter-wave radar sensing with intelligent ventilation control. The system employs radar sensors operating in the 60–77 GHz frequency range to detect vital signs including breathing and heartbeat, enabling accurate identification of unattended children even when obscured by clothing, blankets, or child seats. A central processing unit executes occupant classification algorithms, predictive thermal modeling, and a graduated response protocol that escalates interventions based on elapsed time, cabin temperature, and distress indicators. Ventilation is achieved through controlled partial window openings of 2–3 cm, providing sufficient airflow to reduce cabin temperature by 5–8°C within 10 minutes while preventing unauthorized access to locks or handles. Environmental sensors adapt operation to rainfall, wind speed, and external temperature extremes, ensuring context-aware functionality. Fail-safe mechanisms include anti-pinch protection, redundant power supplies, and manual overrides. Communication modules transmit alerts to caregivers and emergency services with GPS location and child status data. This invention provides a comprehensive, autonomous solution for child safety in vehicles, combining detection, intervention, and security into a unified framework.
