The application for the patent was published on August 14, 2026, under issue no. 33/2026.
Abstract: A smart attendance monitoring system (100) for automated attendance tracking using facial recognition includes a imaging unit (102) disposed in a monitored area configured to capture video input of individuals, a processing unit (104) communicatively coupled to the imaging unit (102), the processing unit (104) including a face detection module (106) configured to detect faces from the video input. A feature extraction module (108) disposed within the processing unit (104) extracts facial features and generates embedding vectors from detected faces. A database (110) stores enrollment embedding vectors and attendance records. An identity matching module (112) compares extracted embedding vectors with stored enrollment embedding vectors. An attendance recording module (114) records attendance entries in the database (110). The feature extraction module (108) performs video-based multi-frame processing by sampling N frames and computing an aggregated embedding by mean-pooling the embedding vectors to produce a single enrollment vector. A TTL-based exit detection mechanism (116) monitors heartbeat signals and updates attendance records with exit times when individuals are absent from heartbeat signals for a duration exceeding a TTL threshold.
