MUMBAI, India, July 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641080886 A) filed by Aditya University; Aditya College Of Engineering And Technology A; Aditya College Of Pharmacy A; and Aditya Degree College on June 30, 2026, for System And Method For Threshold-Triggered Energy Harvesting From Cumulative Rail Deflections.

Inventors include Sripada Ns Maruthy Vijay; Sadhanapu Reddy Ramesh; Padala Bhupa Reddy; Budida Hema Kiranmayi; and Kassa Suresh Kumar.

The application for the patent was published on July 03, 2026, under issue no. 27/2026.

Abstract: The present disclosure proposes a system (100) that harvests energy from cumulative rail deflections caused by train axle loads, releases accumulated mechanical energy upon reaching a predefined mechanical threshold, and converts the released mechanical energy into electrical power to operate railway bridge monitoring and communication units. The system (100) comprises a load- transfer arrangement (102), a mechanical energy accumulation assembly (104), a unidirectional motion-retaining assembly (106), a motion conversion assembly (110), an electromechanical power generation assembly (112), an electrical power conditioning assembly (114), and a monitoring and communication assembly (116). The system (100) reduces dependence on external power supply, wired power infrastructure, solar panels, and periodic battery replacement in railway bridge monitoring deployments. The system (100) supports compact deployment within rail-supporting sleeper structures and remote railway bridge environments.
