MUMBAI, India, Aug. 12 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641094081 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology on August 03, 2026, for System And Method For Topology-Guided Swin Transformer-Based Automated Diagnosis Of Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia Using Peripheral Blood Smear Images.

Inventors include Navamani T M; and Afsar P.

The application for the patent was published on August 07, 2026, under issue no. 32/2026.

Abstract: A system (100) for automated diagnosis of Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) from peripheral blood smear images is provided. The system (100) includes at least one processor (104) and a memory (106) storing executable instructions. The processor (104) receives one or more peripheral blood smear images and preprocesses the images by performing image normalization, stain normalization, and nucleus-focused enhancement. Persistent homology-based Topological Data Analysis is applied to extract topology-derived morphological descriptors, which are transformed into Morphological Prior Tokens. The preprocessed images are processed through a hierarchical Swin Transformer (400) comprising multiple transformer stages using the Morphological Prior Tokens to perform Topology-Guided Window Attention. The resulting topology-guided feature representations are fused through a Multi-Scale Feature Fusion (410) and refined by a Topology-Aware Feature Refinement Head (412) to generate a topology-aware morphological feature representation (414) for classifying the peripheral blood smear images as Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) or Healthy Hematopoietic (HEM).
