MUMBAI, India, Aug. 12 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641089357 A) filed by Cochin University Of Science And Technology Cusat on July 22, 2026, for System And Method For Treating Coir Pith.
Inventors include Subran, Umalakshmi Kalayamkudath; Reghuvaran, Abesh; Devipriya, Suja Purushothaman; Koyyappurath, Sayuj; and Antony, Navya.
The application for the patent was published on August 07, 2026, under issue no. 32/2026.
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a system (100) for treating coir pith to reduce electrical conductivity. The system (100) includes a chamber (102), a conveyor sub-system (104), at least one ultraviolet (UV) irradiation source (106), and at least one control unit (108). The conveyor sub-system (104) is configured to transport coir pith through the chamber (102). The at least one UV irradiation source (106) is configured to irradiate the coir pith inside the chamber (102). The at least one control unit (108) is operatively coupled to the conveyor sub-system (104) and the UV irradiation source (106). The at least one control unit (108) is configured to control an operating speed of the conveyor sub-system (104) to vary a residence time of the coir pith under the ultraviolet (UV) irradiation within the chamber (102), thereby controlling an extent of UV irradiation applied to the coir pith.
