MUMBAI, India, July 30 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541133621 A) filed by Smart Grid Analytics Pvt. Ltd on December 30, 2025, for System And Method For Virtual Power Quality Meter (vpqm) In Power Plant Controller.
Inventors include Kumaraswamy Reddy Muvva; Priyanka Paliwal; Prasanna Kumar L; Vinothinishri M; and Hemanth Mavuloori.
The application for the patent was published on July 24, 2026, under issue no. 30/2026.
Abstract: The present disclosure provides a power-plant controller for a renewable-energy power plant, comprising a communications interface configured to poll each grid- connected inverter of the plant over an existing inverter communication protocol and a processing unit that executes a virtual-power-quality-meter module. The virtual- power-quality-meter module is configured to acquire, in near real time, voltage, current, active-power and reactive-power measurements reported by the inverters, apply a mathematical line-loss and transformer-loss model that translates the acquired measurements from respective inverter terminals to a point of interconnection of the plant, and output estimated point-of-interconnection power-quality parameters including at least root-mean-square voltage, frequency, active power and reactive power. The power-quality parameters are produced without using any stand-alone power-quality sensors external to the inverters. Figure 2 (publication).
