MUMBAI, India, June 26 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621051921 A) filed by Sage University on April 23, 2026, for System And Method For Weight-Based Monitoring And Access Control Of Stored Items.
Inventors include Dr. Prashant Jain; Prof. Priya Sen; and Aditya Yadav.
The application for the patent was published on June 19, 2026, under issue no. 25/2026.
Abstract: ABSTRACT The present disclosure relates to weight-based monitoring and access control of stored items. The system (102) includes a weight sensing assembly (104), an edge gateway (108), a door status sensor (114), an electronic lock (118), and a hardware processor (112) communicating with a centralized cloud server (110). The system (102) authenticates user access by verifying biometric credentials and a personal identification number at the locker (106). A baseline weight value is dynamically recorded upon each authorized closure of the locker (106) and continuously compared against real-time weight measurements during closed-door states. Upon detecting an unauthorized weight deviation exceeding a predetermined threshold, a discrepancy alert signal is transmitted to the centralized cloud server (110) via the edge gateway (108), which buffers alerts in a local data store (116) during network unavailability. Receipt of the discrepancy alert signal triggers the electronic lock (118) into a security lockdown state. FIG. 1
