MUMBAI, India, July 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202441040433 A) filed by Eicher Motors Limited on May 24, 2024, for System And Method Of Predicting Mosfet Failure For Motor Control Unit (mcu).
Inventors include Arunachalam Narravula; and Mohan Govindaraj.
The application for the patent was published on July 10, 2026, under issue no. 28/2026.
Abstract: ABSTRACT SYSTEM AND METHOD OF PREDICTING MOSFET FAILURE FOR MOTOR CONTROL UNIT (MCU) A system 200 for predicting Metal Oxide Semiconductor Field Effect Transistor (MOSFET) failure in an electric vehicle (EV) 100 is disclosed. The system 200 comprises a motor 206, a Motor Control Unit (MCU) 204, and a plurality of MOSFETs 208 integrated within the MCU 204 to regulate current flow to the motor 206 based on throttle input. A processing unit 210 communicatively coupled to a memory 212 is configured to monitor, in real-time, gate terminal voltage and gate terminal temperature of each MOSFET 208, and compare the monitored values with predefined threshold limits stored in the memory 212. Upon detecting that either the voltage or temperature exceeds the corresponding threshold, the processing unit 210 instructs the MCU 204 to disable motor operation and generate an alert signal. The alert is communicated to a user 102 via a user device 104.
