MUMBAI, India, Oct. 12 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511023621 A) filed by Birla Institute Of Technology & Science Bits, Pilani on March 17, 2025, for System And Method Of Ultrahigh Throughput Purification Of Biochemical Molecules.

Inventors include K S, Jayaprakash; and Somisetti, Kiran.

The application for the patent was published on October 09, 2026, under issue no. 41/2026.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a system (100) for ultrahigh throughput purification of target analytes includes a microfluidic chamber device (102) that generates droplets, each containing a magnetic bead and a target analyte(s). A droplet generator (110) produces droplets at a controlled rate for precise formation. A trapping mechanism (112) within the microfluidic device at designated location or a microfluidic chamber (102) to store or incubate droplets. A magnetic field generator (106) adjacent to or beneath the microfluidic chamber device (102) activates or deactivates a magnetic field to control bead retention within droplets. A fluid injection element (104) introduces washing fluids to remove unbound substances while beads remain magnetically trapped, buffer solutions to facilitate analyte(s) washing by temporarily releasing the magnetic field, and elution buffers to release purified analytes. The system integrates droplet microfluidics with magnetic field-based separation, enhancing efficiency, and automation in high-throughput target analyte(s) purification.
