Abstract: Disclosed is a system (400) and method (600) for quantifying visual suppression in a human subject (410). The human subject (410) wears polarized glasses (105) in which the glasses for the left and the right have axes of polarization different from each other. The human subject (410) is shown a backlit target image (440), a portion of which is covered by a linear polarizer (430) with a predetermined axis of polarization. The backlit target image (440) is rotated in a predetermined direction and feedback is received from the human subject (410) about when the covered portion (430) appears the darkest to the human subject (410). Based on the angle between the axes of polarizations of the glasses (105) and the angle at which the covered portion (430) of the target image (440) appears darkest, the details of visual suppression of the eyes of the human subject (410) are determined.
